I am more at an advanced level but never felt bored or unchallenged in the classes. Class size ranged from 4-6 people depending on level. The lessons covered practical themes such as tourism, cinema, and geography. They feed you VERY well at the chateau and throughout the program. A professional chef does all the cooking at the chateau, and every meal was delicious with plenty of good regional wine to go with it. I never left the table feeling half full or unsatisfied. Everything was prepared fresh and from scratch. All the participants, teachers, hosts (Gerard and Martine), and some staff all eat together in a rustic, familial, intimate setting. The rooms are very comfortable. Half of the participants stayed in rooms at the main chateau while the rest including myself stayed in the renovated and updated farmhouse. One of the participants had limited mobility and they do have accommodation for that including a lift to the dining hall. You have all the modern amenities, and the rooms are tidied up daily during the week and new towels about twice a week. You don't need new bath towels every single day. The immersion experience was more than just the awesome French classes in the morning, but excursions to markets, a cooking workshop, an estate winery, picnic, historical sites and gastronomic restaurants. There's plenty to do for an 11-day immersion program. What really enhanced the experience was the hospitality of our great hosts, Gerard and his wife Martine, the staff and the teachers. Gerard, Martine and the chateau staff made sure to address any concerns you have to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. They are just great and positive people! I had a great experience with LaPont French Immersion in Burgundy and would definitely consider their recently launched program in the French Riviera in the future. I need to save up some money for that first! Honestly, just do it if you're thinking about the French Immersion in Burgundy. You'll meet great people and have a wonderful time. The setting, the food (so much good food), the history, and the participants all became part of the learning experience in a way that a classroom simply can’t replicate. What I loved most was that it never felt like I was just “taking a French course.” I felt immersed in a place, a culture, and a way of life. I found myself looking forward to each day, and I was genuinely sad when the experience came to an end. I’m grateful to all the Chateau de Joudes' staff, special mention to Gerard & Martine (hosts) & Catherine (LaPont) for creating such a thoughtful and memorable experience. I returned home with the enthusiasm to continue to learn French, wonderful memories, and an even greater love of France. It’s an experience I would happily do again - and recommend without hesitation.

Every detail of our stay was so thoughtfully planned, and we felt completely taken care of from the moment we arrived. The food was another highlight! Our French teachers were exceptional — warm, kind, patient, and encouraging.
